Boyhood Home Of Abraham Lincoln (Legendary Wrestler, Inspired By Christ Jesus)
With Presidents' Day making its appearance on the calendar during this month of February, I was thinking about a certain "must go to" location that my wife April & I have enjoyed many times for fun, exercise and historical insights...the (Abraham) Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial, in Lincoln City, within southwest Indiana. Between the ages of 7 and 21, the 16th President Of The United States called this part of Indiana his home.
If you're looking for FREE activities for the whole family to enjoy year 'round, the Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial has hiking trails, the Lincoln Cabin Site Memorial, and the Lincoln Living Historical Farm, which features farm animals and docents (dressed in period piece costumes and presenting demonstrations with antique tools) answering questions about what life was like living on a farm out in the woods back in Lincoln's day.
Many folks may not know that Abraham Lincoln has been inducted into the National Wrestling Hall Of Fame. During a 12-year period, Mr. Lincoln won 299 out of 300 wrestling matches. Talk about being ahead of his time...with this legit almost-undefeated record, Honest Abe (an ultimate babyface with that nickname) would have been a hot attraction in pro wrestling arenas and a big pay-per-view draw for MMA's Ultimate Fighting Championship! And with his famous speeches like the Gettysburg Address, Honest Abe's "promos" to fight fans would have been so profound and captivating!
Speaking of speeches, Lincoln was also known for his House Divided Speech, in which he said "a house divided against itself cannot stand". While growing up in the wilderness, young Mr. Lincoln read the Bible several times, and he (and the culture at the time) knew that, within this speech, he was quoting the Lord Jesus Christ Himself (Matthew 12:25, Mark 3:25, Luke 11:17). Once you accept Yeshua/Jesus as your Savior and Lord, you will be "all in", within His house that is united, for all eternity!
While enjoying the great outdoors via the Lincoln boyhood home's hiking trails, my wife April has said that this area's forest is "so full of life", when we hear the literally dozens of different types of insects, birds and animals making loud sounds in the woods. I think of it as God's magnificent soundtrack here on earth (no electrical outlet, speakers or batteries needed), and this natural joyful noise also makes me think of the Bible's 1 Chronicles 16:33, which says "the trees of the forest will sing for joy before Yahweh". Why? Well, because the following half of this verse says He "comes to judge the earth". This Old Testament passage points to Jesus' future second coming to this earth! For all of us who are united in Christ Jesus, we will sing with the greatest joy, when He will truly make "all things new" (Revelation 21), and we shall live and reign with Him forever!
