My Parade/Autograph Signing Appearance At 2025 Garden Grove Strawberry Festival, May 24!



 


Praise God, on Saturday, May 24, 2025, my wife April & I will be riding in the parade (representing KWVE/"K-WAVE" Christian Radio FM 107.9 & AM 1110/Los Angeles) at the 65th annual Garden Grove Strawberry Festival (a free family festival which attracts hundreds of thousands of people every year in Southern California), and then I will be one of this year's celebrities signing autographs at the celebrity autograph signing table outside the Garden Grove Courtyard Center. The parade will start at 10am, and the autograph signing will start at approximately 1pm (for more details, go to the Garden Grove Strawberry Festival website and click on "Celebrities"...strawberryfestival.org/celebrities).

About 6 years ago, a wrestling fan named David Samuel Blain from Florida tweeted, "I'd truly wish I would have met John Watanabe in person, as an FMW Japan wrestling fan." Well, just as the apostle Paul sincerely wrote words of encouragement to people who he had never met personally (Colossians 2:1), I thought I'd write about this upcoming public appearance of mine, so that people who would like to meet me in person may make plans to meet me (and I look forward to meeting you, too)!

A big thanks to Wendy Ellis, Andrea Perez and the rest of the Garden Grove Strawberry Festival Association Board of Directors for inviting me to be one of the festival's parade & autograph signing celebrities this year (1 Thessalonians 5:18--"In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus toward you"), and April & I again look forward to eating berry, berry good strawberries berry, berry soon!

K-WAVE 107.9 Now Also Delivers Truth & Hope On Los Angeles' AM 1110!

My fellow KWVE/"K-WAVE" on-air colleagues & I are excited to be a part of a radio ministry team that made history just hours ago. Along with 107.9 FM, K-WAVE is also now heard on the legendary 50,000-watt powerhouse known as AM 1110 in Los Angeles! A few months ago, my employer Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa (founded by Pastor Chuck Smith) bought AM 1110 from The Disney Company for $5 million (a nice piece of cheese to a certain Mouse Factory, in what is not a Mickey Mouse deal). On Friday, September 8th, 2023, at 3:00 PM Pacific Time, AM 1110 made the switch from a Disney Company-owned sports talk format to a Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa-owned Christian talk/Bible teaching format. Among many others, my wife April was an "earwitness", telling me over the phone that she could hear K-WAVE loud and clear on AM 1110 while driving through the San Fernando Valley (where our 107.9 FM signal can be "spotty" in some areas). My Lunch With Sonny (Down-Home Dining In Crusher Country)

My wife April & I, a week ago, had lunch with my long-time good friend and former pro wrestler/trainer/promoter Sonny Rogers, at a certain restaurant that Sonny goes to and talks about almost daily, the Oak Creek Diner in Oak Creek, Wisconsin (pictured above), about four minutes away from Milwaukee Airport, and not far from the statue of "The Wrestler Who Made Milwaukee Famous", da one, da only, Da Crusher (HOW 'BOUT DAT?!). With the bad news of so many restaurants across the nation filing for bankruptcy or closing locations, this simple breakfast and lunch restaurant in Oak Creek was a big draw on this day. The parking lot was full (FREE parking, thank God) and while sitting in our booth, April joked, "The whole town of Oak Creek is here!"
