April & I Are Honored To Be A Part Of K-WAVE's 40th Anniversary Celebration!
Before the year 2025 ends very soon, I just want to say that I am honored to be a full-time on-air personality on a radio station that is celebrating its 40th year anniversary, KWVE/"K-WAVE" FM 107.9 & AM 1110/Los Angeles. As K-WAVE celebrates 40 years on the air this year, praise God that I have been working at this radio station (owned by and on the campus of Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa) during the last 14 years.
It's an honor for me to be one of the chosen ones to carry on 2 legacies...the legacies of AM 1110 in Los Angeles and the great Calvary Chapel founder Pastor Chuck Smith (who was portrayed by Kelsey Grammer in the movie "Jesus Revolution").
Back on April 15, 1985, Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa took over 107.9 FM (fulfilling a vision by Pastor Chuck Smith to start a radio station that would spread the gospel and equip believers in Christ Jesus), and in 2023, Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa bought the powerful 50,000-watt AM 1110/Los Angeles from the Walt Disney Company, with K-WAVE's programming now simulcast on FM 107.9 and AM 1110, "sharing life, delivering truth, giving hope".
Once upon a time, AM 1110 in Los Angeles was a popular Top 40 music station featuring then-radio DJs Wink Martindale and Bob Eubanks (as a side note, more than 2 decades ago, I used to regularly see Mr. Eubanks and his wife Deborah James at Sunday services and midweek Bible studies at Gateway Church in Agoura Hills, then led by Pastor Brian & Laurie Campbell...I also used to assist the youth group there, which was led by Justin & Sarah Campbell).
The photo above features a card celebrating K-WAVE's 40 years on the air, which includes a photo of me & my beautiful blonde wife April (bottom right of center...April has accompanied me at several events throughout Southern California, representing K-WAVE). What an honor to be on the same card with Calvary Chapel founder Pastor Chuck Smith and my current K-WAVE radio colleagues, and in these dark times we are living in, may K-WAVE continue to shine as a light pointing to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, The Light Of The World (Lord, come quickly)!
